“El cerebro es un órgano que debemos <entrenar> y cuidar más que cualquier otro”
Esta frase nos la encontramos en la primera página del libro, sin duda muestra la intención que quiere dar a entender Néstor Braidot a sus lectores. Todos sabemos lo que es el cerebro, pero por desgracia últimamente solo escuchamos hablar de una cosas como el alzhéimer. Casi no hay gente que se preocupe en hablarnos de que el cerebro es un órgano que debe entrenarse con miles de estímulos diferentes y por supuesto con una alimentación sana…otro tema que por desgracia tampoco cuidamos mucho hoy en día.
El libro está dividido en dos partes muy diferenciadas:
La primera parte se basa en conocer a nuestro cerebro. A lo largo de seis capítulos aprenderemos muchas cosas ( por lo menos yo ), que no conocíamos. Por ejemplo, la neuroplasticidad, el sistema límbico, la evolución cerebral de los humanos, la diferencia entre el cerebro izquierdo y derecho, las diferencias entre un cerebro de un hombre y una mujer, este capítulo hay que leerlo como algo formativo, si se lee con otra perspectiva, puede que no se entienda lo que se intenta decir…y la memoria, para mi uno de los capítulos que más me han hecho aprender, incluso una de mis películas favoritas Memento, puede ser verdad perfectamente si se tiene dañado el hipocampo. Incluso en esta parte se hacían varias recomendaciones o consejos, para mejorar nuestra actividad cerebral, como puede ser la meditación o simplemente reírnos.
La segunda parte consiste en entrenar a nuestro cerebro, esta parte es algo difícil de explicar, contiene ejercicios de diferentes estilos para entrenar diferentes cosas, por ejemplo, la memoria semántica, la imaginación, la creatividad, la memoria a corto y largo plazo, la capacidad de razonamiento…unos son matemáticos, otros con textos, otros con imágenes…dependiendo que entrenemos tenemos un puzle diferente a resolver. Por ejemplo para mí, los matemáticos y los visuales, no me han resultado complicados, sin embargo los de letras les he tenido que dar algunas vueltas…así que para cada persona, estos ejercicios son totalmente diferentes, ya que cada cual tiene un cerebro diferente, más preparado para ciertas cosas que para otras.
Aunque para muchos, ya parezca que el libro es muy completo. Braidot, amplia mucho más nuestra posibilidad de profundizar en este tema, todo el material que indico a continuación lo podemos encontrar en www.braidot.com/sacarpartidoatucerebro.
En la primera parte del libro, digamos la teórica, hace muchas indicaciones para ver artículos de revistas, en otros casos incluso, pone enlaces para ver un artículo determinado vía web o podemos ver artículos nuevos en su web. También en la segunda parte del libro, digamos la práctica, nos indica la posibilidad de realizar más ejercicios en su web. Pero aún queda más, ya que incluso existen archivos de audio, para escuchar mientras leemos y hacemos los ejercicios. Y como colofón final se realizan encuentros interactivos con la presencia de Néstor Braidot.
Sinceramente creo que recomendar la lectura de este libro es quedarme corto, ya que realmente no es solo un libro, el contenido web disponible, hace que la lectura se alargue el doble o el triple. Realmente no sé si me he vuelto más listo ( donde no hay, no se puede sacar ), pero he aprendido mucho sobre cómo tratar y entrenar mi cerebro.
